First Unitarian Society of Madison
Human progress never rolls in on the wheels of inevitability; it comes through the tireless efforts of [people] willing to be co-workers with God.

Welcome to the Social Justice Council Home Page

"Facilitating and coordinating congregational efforts to promote social justice locally and around the world"

Social Justice is an essential element of the journey to personal spiritual growth. The Social Justice Council works to create and support opportunities for the First Unitarian Society community to have an impact on our broader community.

The Social Justice Council is comprised of five separate committees, each with a particular justice focus. These are the Economic Justice, Environmental Action, Human Rights, Peace and Justice, and LGBT Welcoming Congregation Committees.  All are welcome to participate in our committees and task forces to plan and implement projects. The committees meet monthly and as needed.

Contribute your expertise, your energy, your passion to help make this a better community and world. There are opportunities for both short and long term commitments.

Social Justice Council Chair: Nancy Kosseff

Social Justice Coordinator: Erich Pitcher

Meeting: Second Monday of the month at 5:30 p.m.
