Other Opportunities for Children & Youth at FUS

Child Care For Infants and Toddlers

We have child care available for infants and toddlers during each of our worship services and during many parish events. Our silent pager system allows us to contact parents if their child is having difficulty in the child care room. We also have Baby Haven, a soundproof room located at the back of the Atrium Auditorium that allows parents to enjoy the worship service while tending to their young children.

High School Youth Group

Our high school youth group meets weekly on Sundays during the school year, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. We focus on social justice and social action, helping teens to understand and promote human rights, equality, and a sustainable planet. Through service projects, speakers, and district trainings, youth will be encouraged to be socially and civically engaged. Along the way, they will explore the connection between Unitarian Universalism and social justice. There will also be many opportunities for fun and lively discussion! For more information about the Youth Group please contact Janet Swanson.

Summer Fun

When our RE classes have ended for the year (mid-May) our Summer Fun program kicks in! Summer Fun is offered concurrent with Sunday worship services, 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.,  and is for children ages 4 to 13. Children engage in arts activities, story time, and outdoor fun and games. No pre-registration is required.

Child Dedications

A child dedication is a uniquely Unitarian Universalist ceremony of welcome which offers parents the opportunity to have their children blessed by our congregation, their family, and our ministers. During this time, our congregation commits to help the child grow in ways of love, truth, justice, and peace. Child dedications are held four times a year. Contact the Rev. Kelly Crocker to discuss and schedule a dedication at 233-9774 extension 112 or click here to send her a message..

Children’s Choirs

We have several children’s choirs (determined by age), offering a special opportunity for children and youth to use their gift of music to serve our congregation. Our choirs are a strong and vibrant part of our community. They meet at various times on Wednesday evenings. Please contact our children’s choir director Heather Thorpe for details.

Middle School overnight at Upham Woods Environmental Education Center

October 5 to October 6.  All FUS middle schoolers are invited to spend a weekend up in Baraboo where they’ll canoe, hike, do a challenge course together, star gaze, and more. For a Parent Permission Form, click here.
